As traditionally IMAGO will be present at the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography CAMERIMAGE considered by many to be the best of the kind for cinematography and cinematographers. Former IMAGO president Nigel Walters in one of his articles for the website he has denominated it as to be the Meca of Cinematographers. Where every cinematographer has to go at least once in a life time.
Despite some cuts in support from local governmental administration CAMERIMAGE looks as strong as ever. This festival gathers thousands of people during a week attending feature films, short films, documentaries, special screenings, seminars, panel discussions, workshops, student films, music videos a varied of activities aiming the art of cinematography including equipment presentations, and a display of equipment in the corridors of the Opera Nova. It is at the Opera Nova where the main event takes place like the screenings for the competition section. There is no other festival like this. All activities are crowded an hour before taking place. Some years ago in Lodz or even further back in Torun the audience was older. Now the crowds are made of a very enthusiastic young people with eagerness to learn and see the masters packing debates, workshops and all seats in the theatres. The ambience is just wonderful and it seems to be the only place in the world when the name of the cinematographer appears on screen no matter who it gets a great applause. It is a recognition by the public for the art and craft of the cinematographer.
The festival takes place in Bydgoszcz Poland from 10 to 17 of November. Check the FULL program HERE

The MAIN COMPETITION FILMS.
The Main Competition with the Golden Frog Award has been the most important part of the EnergaCAMERIMAGE Festival from its beginning. The Competition exists since 1993 i.e. since the first edition of the Festival. From the very beginning the idea behind the competition is to present the feature films where the image significantly contributes to the way a story is told. The visual value of these films results from the cooperation between a director and a cinematographer and the unusual sensitivity of the author of a film image. The Main Competition emphasizes the enormous contribution of the cinematographer to the film work.
The aim of the Main Competition is to present films with unique visual appeal which will then be evaluated by International Jury who will choose and award the authors of the best cinematography.
Also this year we will present the most interesting phenomena of world’s cinematography, distinctive in terms of creative use of the image in film narration.
