We are delighted to invite you to the Visual Media Lab Conference (VMLC) „Reality Check“ 2025, which will take place from April 11-12 at Hochschule der Medien, Stuttgart.
In this conference we will delve into practice-based and practice-led research in the fields of media production, visual aesthetics, and working environments and conditions shaping the future of media. We want to drive forward technological and aesthetic innovations as well as advanced production methods. Together we like to explore the connection between the creation, projection and perception of visual media and their communication. We are looking forward to exciting presentations on topics such as
- the challenges and opportunities of AI tools in media production
- innovative visual aesthetics for media
- new teaching methods through practice-oriented research
- insights into future film production workflows

Exchange and networking are particularly important to us, for which we have planned long lunch breaks, a networking dinner and the VMLC party.
As an accompanying program, an alumni event will take place at the beginning of the VMLC, at which former HdM students will talk about their latest projects and provide insights into their creative path from student to professional in the industry.
We conclude the Visual Media Lab Conference with the world’s first scientific journal Cinematography in Progress (CITO) on sunday, April 13. Attendees will be able to learn more about the journal’s activities through interesting presentations by industry experts.
We look forward to welcoming you to VMLC 2025 to engage in passionate discussions about the future of media and technology.
Join the reality check!
Yours sincerely, the VMLC-committee
