On Saturday, March the 25th, the 2023 IMAGO IAGA moved into the splendid Palazzina Fellini, located on the Cinecitta studio grounds, to celebrate IMAGO’s 30th anniversary. IMAGO’s stalwart sponsors set up camp in the foyer outside the Palazzina Fellini auditorium, showcasing their latest products to eager DoPs from all corners of the world.
Rosco representatives Jean de Montgrand and Alexandre Boulay are proudly showcasing here today at Cinecittà the latest addition to their popular MIX family of lighting fixtures, The DMG Dash. It’s the smallest MIX family member and it’s a pocket-size LED with wireless CRMX using MIX technology. No one at Rosco expects the Dash to be part of your extensive pre-light ”campaign plan”, but it’s invaluable when you need that extra little last-minute light source or highlight.
A range of accessories to the DMG Dash offers a lot of possibilities for use and the wireless control allows for versatility. The unit is weatherproof and battery-powered with a three-hour run time, so there really isn’t a whole lot NOT to like about the DMG Dash.
Steven Fierberg ASC is a big fan of Rosco lighting products and has used them extensively. He can be seen here with Rosco representatives (left to right) Jean de Montgrand and Alexandre Boulay.

We had a word with Jean de Montgrand about the company’s background and relationship to IMAGO. ”Rosco is a legacy brand”, Jean clarifies, ”historically known for mastering the language of colour, and we are evolving from being known mainly as a gel manufacturer and into the LED business in order to more comprehensively serve the filmmaking industry. Gels are actually a very steady market since huge HMI lights need gels and once you have to light something really big to a decent F-stop… voilá, you need gels!”
DMG DASH features Rosco’s patented, six-chip MIX® Technology – enabling it to produce the same color-quality and True Rosco Color™ gel matches that other MIX lights do!
”The decision to sponsor IMAGO and its 30th anniversary”, Jean continues, ”came easily to us as Rosco has been a long-time IMAGO sponsor in the past and we were very eager to get back to face-to-face events again, after the limbo during the Pandemic, so we obviously wanted to support this. There’s nothing we cherish more than the personal relationship with filmmakers in general across the globe, and being able to interact with cinematographers allows us to show our products and helps us to evolve in the right direction and to better serve the filmmaking community”.
