1962-63 Studies of philosophy at University of Copenhagen
1963-67 Apprentice as commercial still photographer.
1969-71 Education as cinematographer at the National Film School of Denmark.
Since worked as cinematographer on features, short fiction and documentaries.
At various periods – Head of Department of Cinematography at The National Film School of Denmark.
2006-09 head of Department of Cinematography at Baltic Film and Media School, Tallinn University, Estonia.
Have organised or moderated international master classes and seminars on cinematography and directing.
1989 Co-founder with director Ulla Boje Rasmussen of the production company NORDFILM
2003-2008 President for IMAGO¬ – European Federation of Cinematographers.
2009 Honorary Member of IMAGO.
2016 Honorary Member of Tallinn University, Estonia
2017 Honorary Member of Danish Association of Cinematographers, DFF.
