BRUSSELS, BELGIUM 14TH MARCH 2020
IMAGO PROUDLY PRESENTS THE 3rd IMAGO INTERNATIONAL AWARDS FOR CINEMATOGRAPHY – BRUSSELS 14th March 2020
Held successfully, previously in Helsinki and Belgrade IMAGO presents the 2020 International Awards for Cinematography in Brussels supported by the Belgium Society of Cinematographers and our generous group of participating sponsors. These prestigious International Awards were created to recognise the visual artistry and creativity of Cinematographers from around the globe, all pursuing excellence in visual interpretation and storytelling. The Awards provided an opportunity for all IMAGO member countries to participate and to respect and admire the work of all cinematographers under one uniting umbrella, that is IMAGO.
This year we saw an increase in entries, which showed how popular and how necessary an Awards of this structure, being a peer judging system was necessary. It all proved beyond doubt that IMAGO member countries want to see the work from other countries, particularly as a lot is not destined for the mainstream and can get lost in the fast running tide of festivals and general release screenings. The IMAGO Awards recognised that and created these Awards specifically for Cinematographers, judged by Cinematographers.
Apart from “Special Contribution Awards” the IMAGO Awards recognise the work of Cinematographers in the following genres:
• The IMAGO International Award for Best Cinematography for FEATURE FILM
• The IMAGO International Award for Best Cinematography for DOCUMENTARY FILM
• The IMAGO International Award for Best Cinematography for TELEVISION DRAMA
• The IMAGO International Award for Best Cinematography for EMERGING YOUNG CINEMATOGRAPHER
• The IMAGO International Award for Best Cinematography for STUDENT FILM
IMAGO is The International Federation of Cinematographers and our aim remains to foster a collegiate atmosphere for Cinematographers globally. Our history and our Board reflects this in a positive way and will continue to do so.
