The IMAGO Authorship committee took an initiative to support our Spanish colleagues from AEC in their battle to guard their authorship rights.
History: the Spanish law on Cinema recognizes the Cinematographers as co-authors of the film. A later law on Copyright has denied them this right. Both laws were valid though, producing a conflict. Lately, the Spanish Ministry of Culture presented a draft of a new law on cinema. To solve the conflict, they tried the easy way: delete the cinematographers from the co-authors list. The AEC is fighting against that.
The Authorship Committee prepared a letter to the Spanish Minister of Culture and Sports.
